What is KRS number in Poland?
Polish KRS number (KRS stands for “Krajowy Rejestr Sądowy” – the National Court Register) is obtained by entities which are entered to the National Court Register. It is required by some types of organisations in Poland such as non‑profit organisations, companies, and public health institutions.
What is a copy of an entry in the National Court Register (KRS) and what is it for?
It is an official summary containing key information regarding a company and it is indispensable during conclusion of agreements, conducting administrative affairs or participating in tenders. If a company expands its business to international contacts, a copy from the National Court Register in English will be a document necessary to work. A copy from the National Court Register consists of several elements: company identification data, information regarding the management board, contact data, data pertaining to share capital and information pertaining to the objectives of the business. If we need a copy of the National Court Register in English, all of the aforementioned entries must be also included in the translation.

How to download a copy from the National Court Register in English?
There is a website looking like the National Court Register’s website which informs thata copy from the register can be obtained in several languages by clicking in a selected link. However, the address of the website is only similar to the National Court Register and not the same, which can raise suspicions. After clicking the link, the user is informed that only an application for issuance of the document is available and that the Ministry does not issue documents in various language versions. There is information stating that obtaining a document in a foreign language entails its translation and additional costs. This information is also confirmed by the Ministry of Justice. You click the link and you are transferred to a form in the Polish language. Once you complete it, in order to be able to download it, you must also make a payment. Providing information from the National Court Register (KRS) against payment is regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Justice of 14th March 2018 on determining amounts of fees for providing information (…)”. As of September 2023, the prices range from PLN 30 to PLN 60*, however, this pertains only to a document in Polish, it is not a price for translation of a copy from the National Court Register.

The conclusion is simple: a copy of an entry in the National Court Register (KRS) which can be obtained is the current or full version, also with additional options (apostille or legalisation), but it is always issued in Polish only. Translation of a copy from the National Court Register to English must be ordered separately.
